Author's Comment:-

The fact that this is not just a biography on the life of Arthur Simms but a social history was pointed out to the reviewer, which they do not seem to have taken up.  The other comment seems to ignore the structure of each chapter together with the appendices for more in-depth details, should the reader require it. The reader is also made aware of the rationale at the commencement of each chapter.

The reviewer is right to assume that this is a book 'academic' for lecturers, researchers and students of hospitality management, although the author would like to think that it also contains interest and in parts is very entertaining, which other reviewer's have pointed out.
